Creative Spirits Colorado

My name is Jessica. I live in Grand Junction with my family. I am an artist and art educator. My goal for Creative Spirits Colorado is to bring people together to connect experience new ways of making art and creating in an environment that allows you to escape into relaxation, while having fun and getting a little messy. I believe that everyone is an artist. Sometimes we just need a little guidance to bring out the artistic qualities that have been trapped inside.

I taught art in a public school for many years to Kinder through 5th graders, developed a specialized art curriculum for students with Autism and was active in the Arizona and National Art Education Association. In 2015 I was awarded Arizona Art Educator of the Year and Outstanding Elementary Art Educator in Arizona. In 2016, I was a nominee for the Flagstaff, AZ Viola Awards in the Art Education category. I played an active roll on the Arizona Art Education Board. This experience strengthened my skills as a human and art educator. This gave me opportunities to present at conferences, teach art educators different skills from lesson planning, innovative projects, art critiques and connect with a unique crowd of artists and educators from around the country.

As an artist, I consider myself a multimedia artist and enjoy working with all types of mediums, but I am a jeweler at heart. Currently my jewelry consists of beadwork. I am forever inspired by indigenous beadwork from all over the world. I make fringe earring and hats with the beadwork that I produce.

Please join me for future art events whether they are fundraisers for local organizations or just getting out, taking a risk and letting loose! Look for Creative Spirits Colorado at local wineries, breweries and other local establishments. I look forward to inspiring you and creating with you!
